WMS Student Selected to Serve on State Student Advisory Council

Anna RinkerWashington Middle School is proud to announce that 7th grade Honors Academy student Anna Rinker was recently chosen to serve on the 2017-2018 Student Advisory Council with state school superintendent Richard Woods. Anna is the daughter of Jason and April Rinker, the granddaughter of Jim and Sandy Rinker, and Gene and Sarah Crew all of Cairo, Georgia. She is active in academics at Washington Middle School as well as extra-curricular activities such as the Drama Club. Anna hopes to one day attend the University of Georgia and earn a degree in animal sciences to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. The Student Advisory Council is made of 142 middle and high school students from the state of Georgia who will meet with members from the state Department of Education and the superintendent to provide recommendations on how to improve education in the state of Georgia. Over 1,500 students applied for this position, and only a tenth of those were chosen to serve. Anna is the only student from the Grady County School System who was selected.
